Depends what you like. Try Saint Jeromes in the alleyway behind LOUNGE. OR right nearby is Section 8 in Tattersalls lane behind COOKIE. I’ve actually listed 4 good places right there
St. Jeromes is a nice little grungy bar in Caledonian Ln that plays hip/hop, dub and drum n bass. They’re also holding the Laneway Festival this month.
aksnook is right. It does depend on what you like. I’d say more importantly what music you like.
There’s a few up the top end of the city off Bourke Street at 23 Meyers Place. One called Loop which I love because its different and more to the point FREE every night of the week. DJs play techy/expermental electronica and all things nice.

If you’re into more party action with some good electro house and great local DJ on a Friday night, Xplicit @ Shiva on Bourke Street is definitely the go. Its a fairly new night with plenty of promise. Fantastic venue also. (Couldn’t find a site or address but it used to be called Chicane Lounge then Publicity now Shiva)
